For more than 20 years, our nursery has been dedicated to nurturing Teddy Bear puppies for people in Grand Rapids! We are Michigan Puppy and we love finding homes in Grand Rapids for the cute, fluffy, non-shedding Shichon puppies we raise! We raise them all at our homestead in central Michigan which is about an hour’s drive from Grand Rapids, MI. We’ve found homes for a number of our Shichons in Grand Rapids and would love to find homes for more.
We’re a family and we’ve been raising puppies since 2004. We love it! By we, I mean myself, my wife, our four children, and the puppies. My wife and I love it because it’s something we can do together. Our kids love it because they get to play with super-cute puppies every single day and the puppies love it because, well, puppies love to be played with!
Shichon puppies are sometimes called “teddy bear dogs” or “Zuchons”. They are a cross between the Shitzu and Bichon Frise breeds. They are small, usually 10-15 lbs, and have super fluffy coats which make them look bigger than they are. They are friendly, happy, and fun to play or snuggle with. They usually like kids and are quite playful which can be harder to find in smaller dog breeds. They do bark occasionally which is pretty common in smaller breeds like this. They need to be groomed regularly to avoid coat matting.
These smart little dogs love to snuggle and do great indoors. For smaller living spaces like you’ll find in Grand Rapids, Shichons are a great option and a wonderful companion!
